Using templates with photo cut-outs
There are a lot of cute templates and themed templates for cute cards, cute calendars, cute invitations and almost every certificate template has oval and star cut-outs. While certainly, any photo can be used with these, there are some types of photo’s that work better than others.
The photo cut-outs will … cut your picture. So, the best pictures for these would be full body shots, group shots where you want to zoom in on a particular person or two, or maybe you just want to cut somebody out of the picture :eek: . Maybe you just don’t want a lot of whatever there is in the background.
When you have photos like these, the cut-out portion will be completely filled by the surroundings in the photo. So, the full shape of the cut-out will be preserved and look best. And again, if we don’t really like what else (or who else) is in the background, then those will be gone too.
Below are some examples of cut-out templates. As you can see, if we used a close-up photo, some of the cut-out area wouldn’t be filled. Or, we’d have to be so tight on the photo (in order to fill all the points of the star) that we’d only have a portion of our subject.
So, if you’d like to use a template that has a printable photo frame with a star cut-out, heart photo frame or simple oval, choose a photo that’s rather “zoomed out” on the subject you want to feature. Then, you’ll be able to “zoom in” on them and print a wonderful photo calendar, printable birthday cards, etc.
Photos of couples, groups, and photos of people taken from far away will work great, and not only that, they’ll look great when you print.
