Which photo templates work best for close-ups
Many people like to get in really close and take those great close-up shots. Chances are some of your favorite photos are really tight on the subjects and people like these for many reasons. Mostly because we can see more of the people we really wanted to take a picture of.
These close-up photos make for great photo cards, calendars, and announcements. However, not all the templates are great for close-ups. Here is a little guide to choosing the card or calendar template that’s best for these photos.
In a nut shell, for close-up photos you want to choose a rectangle or square photo frame. We want to preserve as much of the photo as possible. You already have a great photo, so a heart frame or star photo frame aren’t really necessary. Additionally, photo cut-outs do just that. They cut out parts of the picture and when we’re talking about a close-up, that could mean losing an eye! Ouch!
In general, the reason you choose a photo card over just any other card is you want to see the people in the photo or it’s a really great photo. So, I like to use the full frame/simple shape templates. They let the photo tell the story or capture your audience (aka Grandma.)
If you have a nice close-up photo, try the square or rectangle templates first. I think you’ll get a much better looking card, calendar or other printable in the end.
If you do really like some of the cut-out templates (and I do!), I’ll be back with another post on what types of photos work best for those and also what to do with full frame photos as well.
Happy printing,
Mark

[…] If you have a close-up photo, I don’t recommend the templates with star, heart or oval type cut-outs. See my previous post on what templates work best for close-ups. […]
