What does a printable card look like?
Making your own homemade card is easy with so many websites out there like Print With My Pic and MES Cards. But, does a printable card look good? Will the receiver be happy with this card made at home instead of a store-bought card?
Yes! And, yes!
The best part about printable cards is the ability to customize the text on the cards. The card makers on this site let you even add your own pictures to the cards. So, by adding the person’s name to a birthday card or a photo of friends on a thank you card, you can make a card that means more to the person you are giving the card to.
It’s so nice to receive a present or a card that someone has spent some time thinking about. They know you, know what you like, and got something that says a little about you or your relationship. Finding a card like that takes a lot of time and maybe it never gets found. Making your own card that expresses all of that is simple and can be done for free online!
The photo above shows a card that I printed and made. Actually, I was just testing the envelope maker, but then thought it might be good to show everyone an example of the cards. I printed the card and envelope on regular paper, cut them out, folded and assembled. They look great!
If you want to make the card look a little better, you can print the card on a sturdier sheet of paper. If you print the card on a thicker piece of paper, like hard card or construction paper, the card will have a better feel. A better option is something like photo paper or a nicer printer paper which tends to be thicker.
If you are printing your own envelopes as well, I really recommend using a thicker paper. The example above of a printable envelope was done with regular paper. That works just fine, but it’s rather transparent. You can see faint lines, images and text. Additionally the envelope and card are a little flimsy for mailing. They may get a little beat up from here to there. If you use construction paper or something thicker than a regular sheet, you’ll have much better results.
Have you made or received one of the cards? What did you think?
